I started playing soccer when I was four years old. It has been my goal to play at the collegiate level since I began playing on my first travelling soccer team at age seven. Throughout my soccer career, I have always been a player that loved the game and would do anything to play it. However, all my dedication to the game hit a major bump in the road in January of 2018. I was playing a basketball game and went to make a cut and fell to the ground. A week later, I found out I tore my ACL. In the weeks following my injury, I felt sorry for myself. I kept asking what I did to deserve such an awful fate. However, as I started recovery, I learned a much bigger lesson about myself and about my life that helped me re-focus my mind on the things that I wanted my future to possess.
My injury helped me to appreciate how fortunate I actually was. No injury like that one is a good thing. However, in my mind it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. My setback showed me a new reason to appreciate any game that I had left to play in. I found that love for the game all over again, as well as push my drive to play at higher level even more intense. It helped my realize that anything is possible if you work hard enough for it. I persevered through it all and came back from my injury in six months. I had a wonderful high school season personally, and my team had the best one in our program's history. The success of our team led me to the place I am in now; seeking out somewhere that I will fit in to play soccer at the collegiate level, as well as continue to excel in my academics. Not only do I believe that I have the talent to carry me through, but I believe that I have the character, dedication, and perseverance to achieve the goals we will set together. I believe my personal experience and mental toughness will help me be a great addition to your team! If your program sounds like a fit I would love to hear from you!
