My name is Sophia Lezizidis, a 5’6” forward at Whitecaps London F.C. in London, Ontario, Canada. I am 16 years old and I am in grade 11.
November of 2021 I was invited to Canada Soccer's National Development Screening Centre. This was an exciting time for me. In December of 2021 I was recognized #8 top 2023 across Canada by FTF (About Us - First Touch Football Canada (ftfcanada.ca) )
Also in the past I have been invited for the past years to participate in the Provincial Screening. The Provincial Screening Projects are specifically about choosing the best players and forming a team to play against other "best players" from the other provinces in Canada. We are chosen throughout the season to attend the Provincial Program Projects at the showcases after being invited by the Provincial scouts.
I started playing soccer when I was two years old. I have been repeatedly told by opposing coaches’ teammates and my peers that I have awesome talent. I have worked very hard to get where I am now. I watch everything I eat, and fitness is extremely important to me. Additionally, I've been playing in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), which is the highest standards-based youth league in the Province of Ontario. I finished the 2019 season, with 16 goals placing me in the top 5 in Ontario, for goal scoring. This season I have accepted a position on the U17 OPDL team with Whitecaps London.
It has been a huge goal of mine to make the Canadian National Women's Team and to play collegiate soccer within the USA. For the past few years, I've been selected for the "Game of Distinction" at the Vancouver Whitecaps Performance Player camp in British Columbia. This is an invite only camp and comprised of the top talent from the 24 Whitecaps Youth Academy centers across Canada.

- The Ontario Provincial Development League (OPDL) is the primary program in which potential Provincial Team Players are identified. There are however, alternative player identification options for those Ontario Soccer registered players who do not compete within the OPDL. Provincial Team Player Eligibility: • Primary method: Player identification within OPDL or League1 Ontario • Alternative method: Player recommendation process for Talent on Location Day screening event (ToLD) Provincial Team Player Identification Process: As outlined above, a player identified via the OPDL or ToLD process can then be invited to continue their progress in the Provincial Team Player Identification Process via the following three steps: 1. Provincial Screening Competition (PSC) 2. Provincial Projects (PP) – Cancelled for 2022 3. Provincial Team (PT) Provincial Screening Competition (PSC) PSC events are normally conducted annually in November. For 2022, this Provincial Xcel identification event will take place in February & March depending on the age group & gender of the players. PSC’s consist of players who are scouted and identified within the OPDL, League1 Ontario and players who are identified through Talent on Location Days (ToLD). Players identified within the PSC are invited to attend the Provincial Projects. PSC events are typically for players who are within the U-13, U14 and U-15 male and female age groups. However, due to the impact of the global pandemic, the age groups of eligibility have been expanded to the U13, U14, U15, and U17 age groups to ensure opportunities for players continue to exist. Provincial Projects (PP) PP events are typically conducted annually starting in January, following the PSC events. They consist of the players identified within the PSC and are scheduled on weekends through the months of January, February and March. It is during the PP weekends that the Provincial Staff identify the 22 players for U-14, U-15 and U-16 males and females into the Provincial Team. However, due to the global pandemic, the Provincial Projects will not be operated in 2022. Players will be selected to the Provincial Team directly from the Provincial Screening Competition.

- Athletes are provided with high-level training in a competitive environment that offers college exposure and the opportunity to work with the MSU coaching staff directly, while other local colleges attend. There will be a schedule that is staggered throughout the 2-day camp, and will include 2 training sessions, 3 games, Q&A with current student-athletes, and an athletics campus tour.
