Playing soccer at the collegiate level would be a great opportunity to challenge myself and continue to pursue my passion. Soccer has been a vital part of my life and has helped shape me into the person I am today. It has translated outside of my life by showing me how to be a leader, take responsibility, and teach me that failure leads to growth.
What separates me from other players is my tenacity. I am always trying to learn new skills to improve my game and make me a smarter player. Furthermore, I have a strong work ethic and continue to strive to accomplish goals which I set for myself. As a teammate, I will do anything that leads to successful results in a game and help boost morale among my team. I try to bring positive energy and keep my team focused.
Academically, I take classes that challenge me. My high school schedule consists of multiple honors and AP courses each year that allow me to continue to learn new complex concepts. I enjoy taking more rigorous classes because they enable me to push myself. I am most passionate about subjects that involve math and science. In college, I plan to study Environmental Engineering. Pursing this major will provide me the opportunity to make a change, create solutions, and improve the quality of the environment.
One of the things I most enjoy is volunteering in a program called TOPSoccer. This organization provides kids with disabilities the opportunity to play soccer in an environment that is supportive of their needs. My experience during the past three years with TOPSoccer has been eye opening for me in watching the children grow and progress each season. I have made some lifelong connections with the kids that I get to mentor through the program. Soccer provides an avenue for me to connect with the children despite their disabilities.
