Personal Statement
My love for soccer began at an early age. From the ages of six to nine I took place in a community league. When I turned ten I started playing in a more competitive travel soccer league. I participated in that league until I was fourteen, at which point my team had won a tournament and I had gained additional skills and knowledge.
I joined my first club soccer team, Steel Town Magic (STM), when I was eleven. I played for them for two years and we won a tournament. It was a good first experience, but I felt as though I needed to elevate my level of play. To do so I decided to change teams; I tried out for and was selected by the PIttsburgh Football Club (PFC). I was thirteen when I made PFC and played for them for two years, during which time we won a tournament and were very competitive. At the age of fifteen, again looking to heighten my level of play, I tried out for and was selected by Stars United. My time with Stars United has allowed me to gain a plethora of knowledge and enable me to improve my skill. I have recently tried out for them again, and will continue to play for them this upcoming season.
Aside from cup and travel soccer, I have also participated in high school soccer at Chartiers Houston High School. I started for the varisty team my freshmen year. During that year I had eighteen goals and several assists. My time play allowed me to letter my freshmen year and I was the only person from my school to make the All-Section team. When sophmore year came around I was excited and anxious for the season ahead. We made it to playoffs; I had seventeen goals and once again I was honored to make the All-Section team and letter. During the past two seasons of high school soccer I played both center midfield and forward. The next season is approaching and I am looking forward to what we can do.
Besides soccer, I have a multitude of hobbies. I play the piano and enjoy reading. I take part in the Leo Club, Senior High Student Government, Peer Jury, Academic League, and am a part of the Gifted Program. Through school I take part in many volunteer events including, but not limited to, Relay For Life, Pumpkin Picking, and an abundance of events at the County Health Center.
As much as I love soccer, I have to make my school work a priority in my life. Through high school I have gotten straight-As, and have consistently been awarded Highest Honors. I work passionately to keep all of my grades as high as possible. Anything less than straight-As is not acceptable to me.
In college, I hope to major in Architecture. I thoroughly enjoy mathematics and that is how I want to spend the rest of my life. Hopefully, while in college, I can also participate in soccer. I want to play at the next level and would bring dedication, hard work, and fun to any team that I am on. I love soccer, and I couldn't imagine my life without it.
The bottom line is that I want the person I become to be someone both I and other people respect. I believe that the right college can help me ensure that happens. I know there is life after high school and soccer, which is why I must find a college that is both right for me as I am right for that college.
