Personal Statement
College is an enormous decision. I want to make sure that the school I attend is one that can equally match my passion for soccer and academics. The ideal program will consistently push me to become a better player, while supporting my academic goals. I am very academically and athletically driven, thus I am willing to go the extra distance to exceed expectations.
I am mainly an offensive player, but if there is a need for a defensive player, I am willing to do what is best for the team. My high school coach identified this as a characteristic she respected in me. I am decisive, unselfish with the ball, and have speed to push forward or drop back to defend, These traits may be why I was the only freshman able to secure consistent playing time among many talented upperclassmen, on the defending state champion team. During the year I had 6 goals, 3 assists and was the only freshman to letter. Through sophomore season, I secured a starting position, scoring 13 goals and having almost as many assists. I helped lead our team to a first round bid in the state playoffs.
I am interested in majoring kinesiology or exercise science in order to pursue a career in occupational therapy. I am using my time in high school to prepare for college by taking advantage of challenging courses while still balancing athletics and social activities. These are skills I am working on now, so that I will be able to take on the demands of playing soccer while earning a degree.
When I was in 5th grade, I set my goal to play soccer at the collegiate level. I have the drive and determination to succeed. I will make my goal a reality.
