I have always loved sports, and from a very young age I’ve participated in organized basketball, volleyball, and track and field leagues, but soccer has always been my favorite. Over my thirteen years of playing soccer, I have grown physically and mentally, and now see myself as a leader on the field. Although I am very competitive, I have learned to work well with others in all situations, and I have learned the importance of putting the needs of my team above my own. Throughout my career, coaches have often played me in whatever position they feel needs the most help in a given situation, and because of this, I have become adaptable and willing to try new things. When I am given a job on the pitch, I see it through until it is complete, and have often scored at crucial moments to gain success for my team.
During my Sophomore year of high school, I experienced the toughest challenge of my life so far, as halfway through my school team's soccer season, I tore my ACL. After countless months of rehab with physical therapy, sports rehab specialists and weight training, I was back on the pitch for my Junior year and started in my defensive midfielder position for my high school Varsity team. By the end of the season, I was back to playing in every minute of every game.
Prior to the start of my high school season, I tried out for and was invited to play for, FC Pocono. Since the start of training with my new club team, I have seen my athletic ability, stamina and agility reach levels higher than before my injury. I also believe, that with the higher level of talent and experience I am facing in competitions, my technical skills and field play continue to improve and make me a better player.
My competitive nature and desire to be a leader are evident both on and off the field. Academically, I am ranked third of my class and have been a straight-A student my entire life. I am a current member of FBLA, Yearbook, Science Olympiad, Interact, and Student Council at my school. Along with this, I strongly believe in “giving back” and actively participate in many community service functions through my 4-H club and activities as a 4-H ambassador.
My goals for the near future are to attend a D2 or D3 school and excel athletically, by being a leader on the soccer pitch, and to earn a degree in Environmental Science.
