Personal Statement
It seems that every little boy and girl is introduced to soccer at a young age. I was no different from these other children, as I began playing for a rec club in Lititz, Pennsylvania as a three-year-old. From the beginning, my intense passion for the game began to grow as I would always be kicking around in my backyard with my dad to develop my skills. From there, I moved to a travel club in Manheim, Pennsylvania. I continued to progress in my skills every day as I worked diligently to perfect both my right and left foot, because I knew that would give me an edge over every player I faced. Eventually, the small Manheim club team lessened in value for me as the competition was not up to par with the level in which I could truly play. It was 2014, when I made the switch to Pennsylvania Classics. When I tried out for the first time, my nerves got the best of me and I was placed on the lowest team, Premier. This was extremely disheartening for me as I knew I could do better. Not making a higher team put a fire behind me, as I now worked harder than ever to prove not only to my coach, but to myself that I was worthy of playing for a higher level within the club. Sure enough, my Premier coach noticed that I was not correctly placed with the Premier team, so he had me practice with the Elite team. I fit right in with these girls and I felt it was the level I was truly supposed to be at. I made the Elite team that next year of tryouts and I have been there ever since. Making the Elite team that next year showed me that I can do whatever I set my mind to.
It has always been a dream of mine to be a starter on my high school soccer team. With lots of hard work, I was able to make that dream become a reality. Not only did I start every game my freshman season, but I excelled past my expectations of what the season could bring. I finished as runner up for goals in the season (12) and I scored the game winner at our District final game. That was by far the best athletic accomplishment I have had to this point. I am looking for a program that will be a correct fit for me both athletically and academically. I feel that I not only have the skills and talent to compete at the college level, but impact the program I come into. I am a two-sport athlete and a natural born leader. My loyalty, ability to listen, and drive will make me a great asset to your team!
