My name is Cayla Aquino. I have played soccer for 12 years. I have been a player my teammates look up to for many years. I like them to see that hard work pays off. I lead them buy example because I take a lot of initiative to practice my ball skills and conditioning on my own time. I encourage players to watch a lot of soccer to improve their game. My coaches have looked to me to lead drills at practice because I have demonstrated my dedication and seriousness in my desire to improve and help my team improve as well.
A highlight of my soccer career to date has been playing on the Eastern Pennsylvania Olympic Development U17 Girl's team this past year. I really enjoyed the intensity level and competition level. My coaches complimented me on my "vision" of the game and my foot skills. I traveled to Italy with the team and played in 6 international matches. The opportunity to play soccer with highly dedicated players and for excellent coaches made me enjoy the sport even more. I have a great work ethic during training sessions, both in season and off season. I am always encouraging my teammates to practice at game intensity. I believe this is why I was selected Team Captain as a junior.
I plan to continue to work hard academically and athletically to improve so that I may achieve my goal of playing soccer at the most competitive level possible. I hope to have a positive impact on my future college teammates while also obtaining a degree most that will result in a fulfilling career in the future for me. I am leaning toward the healthcare field.
