Personal Statement
Hello and thank you for viewing my profile.
I've been playing soccer since I was seven years old. I've played on a number of teams where I have always challenged myself to be the best and most skilled on the field. I continue to work hard and hope that I can eventually make it to the collegiate level. To get there, I work on the key elements:
Technical
- Train year-round and at least five days a week doing footwork and drills with both feet
- Can juggle over 500+ touches with both feet
- Focus on strong first touch and accurate passing
Tactical
- Work on positioning with and without the ball to support play
- Can play a variety of positions: forward, defending & attacking mid as well as center defense
- Understand when to take space versus passing
- Know when to make overlapping runs
- Watch a lot of soccer on TV to see how the professionals position themselves and attack as well as review my games
Athleticism
- Do private speed and strength twice a week & group training twice a week
- Work on both upper and lower body exercises to improve strength and balance
- Speed & strength training has helped me be stronger on the ball and have endurance to play full 90 minute games without being subbed out
Coachability
- Lead by example in practices and games
- Always attentive to coaching points - try to apply them immediately
- Communicate with fellow teammates on positioning and tactics during games
Desire to win
- I never give up. No matter the score, I don’t stop until the final whistle blows. During the final minutes of PaWest State Cup Finals, my team was down 1-0. With 2 seconds left, I scored. We played double over-time and we scored again. My team went on to win and placed third in the Regional Championship. Never, ever give up.
- Because I started school early, I was often the youngest varsity player during my freshman year. As you can tell from my highlight videos, I do not let age/size differences intimidate me.
- First at practices and games: I'm eager to always learn and can often watch older practices/games that are ahead of me. I like to take mental notes of what the older players are doing well and how I can apply that to my game.
Lastly, I like to play a possession style game because it showcases my technical footwork and tactical knowledge. My ability to make accurate one- and two-touch passes fit well into that style of game.
I'm also very strong with my academics. I'm carrying a 4.49 GPA. I took all honors classes available during both my Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years (Advanced Chemistry, Geometry, English, and Civics/World History). As a Senior, I take 2 AP classes and 2 Honors classes. I am also dual enrolled in a local university. I plan to major in Exercise Science/Biology in college with plans to attend Medical School.
Overall, I'm confident that my skills, training, dedication, attitude and academics, will make me a good fit for the right college soccer program.
I'm excited to take my game to the next level. If you think I would be a good fit for your team, please contact me!
