I believe that I would be a good candidate for your athletic program because of my dedication to not just my athletics but also my academics. I feel that I have grown as an athlete in many ways that aren’t like others. Having set high standards for myself, I work very hard to achieve my goals. Because I love the sports I participate in, my progression over the years has been consistent and makes my commitment evident.
My involvement in soccer began at a young age, thanks to my parents. I loved soccer from the very beginning, having started playing on a recreational team at my local YMCA. Now that I am playing on a travel team with even more experienced coaches, I have and am able to further my skills and understanding of the game. The teams, the coaches, and not just my parents but those of my team mates have all taken part in my growth by encouraging me after each game. They give me constructive criticism and feedback that would help me grow even more with the games ahead. I have learned that I have to be dedicated and committed if I want to play and advance. I also make sure I present my best self on and off the field. Having just finished my second year playing for my school, I have put a lot of effort into being viewed as a leader there as well.
A differentiating skill I possess is my left foot. My dad always encouraged me to work on shooting with my less-dominate foot, that being my left. Over the years, I have become a dominant force from that side. Another characteristic I possess is being able to influence my team both on and off the field by giving assistance in many aspects. I help in times of struggle and offer encouragement throughout the game.
My current academic goal is to attend a college with a field of study to further my interest in Physical Therapy. From a soccer perspective, I know I want to play at the college level but am not sure which level is best for me just yet.
