While I entered into the Club soccer world a little later that a lot of players due to my prior competitive cheer life, I haven’t let that slow me down. I’ve looked for opportunities to challenge myself both physically and mentally. With the support of my parents, I train in a local gym throughout the year. I’ve been able to improve my strength, speed, and agility with my coaches as well as learn more about my body and it’s needs.
I joined the ODP program in 2017 and earned a spot on the PA West 05G team. This has provided me a lot of opportunities to train with and compete against some amazing players. In the spring of 2019, I even had the opportunity to travel to Barcelona and compete against 4 different teams from around the city. I was also afforded the opportunity to play with some of these players and realized that even though we had a hard time communicating with words, we had no trouble understanding each other while we played the game we all loved.
During my time playing Cup and High School soccer, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to play and contribute a lot. My coaches have demanded a lot, and I’ve been able to learn the different positions I’ve been asked to play, and have really found a home playing defense. I continue to train and work on my skills to contribute at center back, holding midfield, and outside back. I do like the opportunity playing the center field positions the most. I work hard to see the whole field and take pride in finding opportunities to set up my teammates for success. I also don’t mind when I get the opportunity to unleash a shot or two now and again, everyone likes to score, but I take just as much pride in shutting down my opponents. I also love when I play against strong physical competition. When the game gets physical, I work even harder. I don’t like to be outworked in any situation.
My coaches and teammates will tell you that I am a hard worker. I push to get better every practice, training and game. I also push my peers to work and compete during trainings and game play. They will also tell you that I work just as hard to make sure there is ample time for laughs and humor. My teammates and coaches are part of my family. We talk daily even during the offseason.
Academically, I also apply the same attitude and drive I have on the pitch. I am a member of the gifted program at North Allegheny High School. This year I am taking several Honors level courses to continue to challenge and push myself in order to prepare for my future and to reach my goal of having a broad impact on our world.
I am excited about the prospect of continuing my education at a high level academic institution while also getting to live out my dream of playing soccer in college. Currently I am exploring my interest in math and science related majors such as Engineering or Medicine. I will be one of your hardest workers and help my team achieve our goals. Most importantly I will represent my school, my team, my coaches, and my family with the greatest of honor and respect.
I look forward to meeting you!
