Personal Statement
Soccer is my passion! I started playing when I was 4 in a local rec league, then Academy, but my mindset began to change around the time I started Club. Serious soccer made me start thinking about my future in this sport.
I work extremely hard every day to get better as an individual player, teammate, and leader. I've always had the natural instinct to be a leader no matter where I am, and it sure does pay off on the field when I need to communicate or direct the outlook of my teammates by giving a pep talk or reminding them to keep their heads held high. Playing soccer in college would be a dream come true; I think about it all the time. Often I picture myself finally in college, waking up every morning to go do what I love and live the college experience….and then going to my second practice. Hard work has a high payoff - I don’t think most people my age realize the amount of work, effort, and determination it takes to actually accomplish the things that they want in life. I’ve been fortunate to have 2 former D1 Female Soccer players to help me understand the life of traveling for sports & with tutors. No matter how hard the challenge might be, I know I've always been up for it. I love competing in many other sports to help keep me conditioned & disciplined, but I have always and will always choose soccer over any other sport.
I am a versatile soccer player: my main position is Forward, but my coach occasionally places me on defense when my speed & efficiency are needed. I played Attacking Mid in school last year (8th grade) & I anticipate competing in the State Finals with my Varsity teammates this Spring, as my Alvarado Lady Indians are the 2015 Bi-District Champions. I feel like my hard work makes me better and stronger than most opponents - I continually commit to get the job done with a good attitude and I can handle my own. I would say my best assets to my teams are my speed, athleticism, leadership, & commitment. I know someday I’ll meet my match in speed, but so far, I am the fastest girl on the field among any opponent I’ve faced.
I am very outgoing, involved with extracurricular activities at my school and church & enjoy participating with them in volunteer work. I am a member of the FCCLA Club at my school which is the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America where more volunteer hours are spent making my community a better place. My goal is to play for a college or university that will place me in a soccer program that will challenge me & that I can equally enhance with my performance on the field – all while earning my degree in Kinesiology. I have found that that setting goals for myself helps me excel in not only in soccer but in life. I have always played from my heart & I truly believe, "Winning is not everything but wanting to win is...", but there isn’t a greater feeling than victory, whether it be on the field or bettering the world around me!
