My name is Isabella, but everyone calls me Izzy. I first tired soccer when I was about 6 years old, but I did dance and martial arts for a couple of years before focusing on just on soccer. Dance and martial arts were wonderful foundations for flexibility, agility, and discipline. Then, I started playing recreational soccer in 5th grade and did not start club select soccer until my 8th grade year. The learning curve had been steep and challenging! While I was not technically ready for the team, the Director Coach James Eleftherion saw something in me and took a chance. I worked hard practicing with no game time for a season to earn a place on the team and to earn my teammates respect. Within a short time, I progressed my skills and performance to become a starter and consistent presence on the field. I play where my coach needs me and where I can best help the team. I started as a winger, learned to control the midfield, and now I can use my speed as an outside back. There have been games where I have played each of these positions! I love being able to confuse other teams when I move from left to right or to another position.
People would describe me as a bubbly, high-energy person. I am usually the first out on the field and the last to jog off the field. I believe in working hard, giving my all on and off the field, and playing a good clean game. Coaches have consistently highlighted my coachability, work ethic, and positive attitude. I love a fast-paced game where I can use my speed and passing to advance my team. If I make a mistake, I welcome feedback from coaches and others that can help me grow in my performance. With me, coaches will get a team player who is focused at practice and at games; I believe you practice as you play and play how you practice. I have the same philosophy with my studies, taking Pre-AP and AP courses, and maintaining almost an A average (4.98); although, Chemistry and I struggled to get along! My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level while pursuing a business degree with a focus on animal health and science. I have a soft heart for animals and want to see them healthy and loved. My ultimate plan is to establish a ranch that provides a high-quality, affordable, and healthy environment while families' cherished pets are in my care.
What I believe: “At the end of the day, we are all here because we love the game, so thank the refs, the coaches, and the other players for their time and be good to each other.”
