Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Abigail Villeda, I am in the recruiting class of 2023. I have always dreamed of playing at the collegiate level. It all started at the age of 3 where everyone starts to find their passion in life. My passion is to play soccer. Ever since the ball touched my feet it’s been nonstop playing time. Over the years I’ve figured out that there is more than just kicking a ball and scoring goals. There’s the mentality in which is played and the effort you put in the sport. Now that I’m older I have matured and learned a lot of things, not just soccer skills, I have also developed as a person. Now I look to inspire others, and become someone that can make a change in someone’s life just by seeing my lifestyle.
I am proud to say that I am captain of an amazing soccer team at West Mesquite High School. Being captain is a huge privilege and I take it as an opportunity to raise my team and make them better each day, not just in the field, but everywhere that they go. I try to bring the best out of people and make them shine like they never did before. I also encourage them to give it their all, win or loss. I also demonstrate my character inside the field by playing my hardest, even at the last second of the game.
As many say, “I am a student first” and I strive to keep my grades up. I currently hold a 2.95 GPA and I’m involved in AP classes, Honors Orchestra, Crime Stoppers, Ambassadors Club Honors Society. Some of which I hold leadership positions.
I am excited to start this new chapter in my life and I can’t wait for what’s coming in the future. I am considering studying to become a nurse and pursue a career in Church Ministry. I want to do many things in life, but it all starts here. I want to look back one day and see where I came from. I want to thanks my parents for being there, and my friends for supporting and cheering me on, but most of all I give glory to God for giving me the strength and wisdom to go through this process.
