Personal Statement
My name is Deanna Roark; I am a 2019 high school graduate who has played 1 year at the division 2 level at southwest minnesota state.
I came home for a variety if reasons and am currently working in the dog grooming industry while head coaching jv soccer at our local high school Cedar Valley. Taking a step back a bit I've learned so much more about myself, my wants and overall goals.
I have played soccer since I was 6 and it is one of my many passions. Being on a team for half my life has taught me to be committed, to have good leadership, and to always look for the positive. Also that hard work pays off. I am a demanding player of myself and the team. I expect the best out of all my teammates and myself. I take responsibility for my mistakes and do not blame others. I play very technically, enjoy playing with pace, possesion and one two touch. I take the necessary touches when needed and am good in tight spaces. I am also a visual player. I see the play before it happens. I am often underestimated yet on the field I play with a high work rate and physicality that most do not expect.
I personally believe that soccer is a sport that brings people together from all different kinds of backgrounds. Playing soccer as a teen, as I hope to keep playing as I get older, has given me so many great memories that I will never forget. When I look back to this time, I will always have a smile on my face knowing I continued to improve yearly and enjoy the game.
I want to go to a school that has high academic standards and a good athletic program. I am a student as well as an athlete. I put my grades first, and extras second. I believe in being respectful and kind to everyone. I have personal philosophy that when you are kind and generous to everyone, you will have a happier life. For a career choice(s) I want to pursue a business degree and/or Animal Behavior sciences.
