Personal Statement
COMMITTED TO HOBART & WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGES (William Smith).
Soccer has been part of my life since my first memories. I want to play college soccer because I love the sport, want to continue to improve my game, love competition and being on a team, and think soccer has the power to change lives for the better. I am a defender, and play on the outside with my ODP Virginia State team, my travel team, and my SuperY and high school team.
I was born in Kirov, Russia, and was adopted at four months old. I’m one lucky person. My parents have always encouraged me to strive to do the very best at everything I do. My parents were both really good athletes growing up, so they instilled the values of hard work, teamwork, and preparation and love of sports.
I continue to work on my technical skills and my soccer IQ. I work hard on juggling, moves, my shot, and foot skills. I watch great soccer to learn, and love watching the U.S. Women's and Men's National Team games, and English and German pro teams, and the World Cups. To improve as a player, I started attending Duke Women's Soccer camp each summer (4 times so far), University of Virginia soccer camps, and started attending college soccer ID camps as a freshman to push myself and increase my soccer IQ and competitiveness.
I go to a professional strength and conditioning coach two times per week all winter. That has really helped me with my speed, balance, core, agility and strength, which has brought my game to the next level.
I am on the Virginia ODP State pool (2018-2020) and made the "A" squad last year and this, competing in the NC Friendlies Jan 3-5, 2020. I have been selected for the East Region ID Camp for summer of 2020. My SuperY team was undefeated this summer, and we went to the national championships in Tampa in December 2019. My McLean travel team made it to the Quarter Finals of State Cup in Virginia in the fall of 2019.
One of the best things about soccer is that my teammates around me are incredibly hard workers and have pushed me to get better each day both on and off the pitch. I will not be applying for financial aid in college, and simply want to get a great education and play soccer so that I can become a productive and competitive member of society.
