Personal Statement
Soccer has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I started playing soccer at five years old and I haven’t stopped. Despite trying a few other sports, my heart has always remained with soccer and almost every aspect of my life cycles back to soccer in some way.
Three days a week I travel an hour and a half from home to play at Virginia Beach and I often have a game on Saturday and Sundays. I made the varsity boys team my freshman year and I have played at the varsity level ever since. I originally ran cross country in 8th and 9th grade, but after switching to playing for Virginia Rush I decided to commit my time to practicing the sport that I love. I even have soccer on the brain in my free time. Every week my dad and I watch national soccer matches and we occasionally attend local college games for fun.
In addition to soccer, I am active in the Student Government Association and Skills USA. I also had the honor this year of being chosen as a Student Ambassador. Lastly, I started dual enrollment my sophomore year and I feel that it is helping to prepare me for the next stage in my life. I am very interested in studying medicine and my long-term goal is to become an anesthesiologist. It is not always easy trying to balance my rigorous academic schedule with my soccer commitments; however, when you love something as much as I love soccer, you find a way to make it work.
Aside from my family, soccer and my education are the two most important parts of my life. I am steadfast in my dedication to both of these endeavors and it is this drive and commitment that makes me an asset not only to your team, but your school in general. Whether I am studying for an exam or practicing for the next game, I will devote all of my energy to the task at hand and I am confident I can excel both on and off the field. I am thoroughly looking forward to demonstrating my abilities at the collegiate level and bringing my passion for soccer to your school.
