My name is Mayah Torok. I have played soccer since I was 5 years old and have been on a club teams since I was 11. When I turned 13 I played for the State, PSPL Surf Academy team. I played for them for 1 year while also playing on my club soccer team.
During my 8th-grade year, I was told by my club soccer coach that I was not good enough to be put on a higher soccer team. The coach said that I was not fast, skilled, or strong enough to make it. By hearing that I chose to practice 10 times harder and more often. The result from this dedication was the following year, the acceptance onto the top state academy team, Varsity High School Team as a freshman, and top county club soccer team. My greatest inspiration I have is my parents. Without them staying by my side, I would not have made it this far.
Even with my competitive nature in sports, I like to have fun. People have said that I have a bubbly personality. I enjoy putting a smile on everyone's face and like to lighten up the mood. I like to spread not only joy and happiness but leadership too. During my sophomore year of high school, I was Vice President of my class. I learned a lot about responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. I enjoy spreading this knowledge through school and different sports.
