~~I remember when my dad first brought a soccer ball home. Laughing and having fun, I dribbled around for hours. Ever since then, I have known soccer is my sport, and I have played for 11 years. Throughout those 11 years of soccer, I learned how to work with my teammates and move the ball efficiently. I am fast and have good stamina from some years of Track and Field. I always work hard in soccer, practice or game, and I like to be a good role model for others. I do this by trying to stay positive and communicate. I learned to accept criticism well because no soccer player is perfect, and the only way to get better is to listen for other’s advice. I am coachable and very respectful as well; ask any of my current coaches.
I enjoy playing defense and have been for about four years. I can play any position-besides keeper- and am willing to play midfield or forward. Something I struggle with is shooting, but I am working on that; right now I am taking a Striking class with Spokane Soccer Academy. I have been involved in many camps/classes to improve my skills. Some examples are UK Elite, NBC Soccer Camp, and Foot Skills.
I really enjoy the select soccer I play with Scotties, but the high school soccer I play isn’t as fun for me. This is because the varsity coach sits me on the bench, and I feel that he doesn’t believe in me. This angers me, but I’ve learned to let it go because I believe in myself. I practice outside of school and work hard to improve my skills because I believe in myself.
I believe that education is very important. I prove that through my 3.9 out of 4.0 GPA and the three AP classes I am involved in. I study very hard and go the extra mile for my education. I also like to help others and I do that by being an Ignite Mentor at my school where I help the incoming freshmen to adjust to high school. I also volunteer at the Inchelium School District and am a VBS camp counselor for my church.
I am hoping to attend a college where I can work hard in school and soccer and make my parents proud. I want to be proud of what I have accomplished and be a good role model for others.
