Hello, I'm Abigail Whiston, or you can call me Abby. I've been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, and have played the position of goalkeeper since I was 7 or 8 years old. Soccer has made me a more confident and courageous person, especially when the position I'm playing requires a lot of that. I mean getting a ball kicked at your face can be scary, but the more I play, the more exhilarating it becomes. The last few years I have turned many of my weaknesses into strengths. I have increased my vertical by almost 2 feet, which is very useful considering my height. I also have learned to use my vocals and keep communication strong for with teammates and especially my back line.
How far I have come in soccer has really influenced how I go about everything else in life as well. Every year my schedule seems to become more and more packed and time-consuming due to the number of teams I'm on, my high level academic classes, and other extra curricular activities in take part in. From this, my time management skills have increased, and becomes more and more easy to handle as time goes by; which will be very helpful in college, so I'm told.
Although soccer is a big part of me and my life, I do a couple of other things in my spare time that I love doing just as much. I enjoy reading a range of different genres, from mystery to Sci-Fi novels. I also use my free time to even write my own novels and short stories. During my college education, I would like to pursue Architecture and maybe minor in Construction Management. It is my dream to become an Architect/Architectural Engineer. I've found the idea of building my own house amusing, and have already come up with my own designs. I'm hoping to make one of them a reality after college. I do realize all the work that goes into this degree, with all the confusing math and different techniques involved, but just as much as I'm willing to put the work in for soccer, I'm willing to put in the work to achieve my dream.
