To have grit is to have the courage to show the strength of ones character in the face of adversity; the game of soccer has shown me how to have grit.
The game has taught me many lessons over the years. This past year I have grown tremendously as a person and player. After taking a year away from soccer during my freshman season to focus on my mental health I was determined to come back stronger as a teammate and player. The time away built a fire within and taught me I can overcome anything. I have realized that life gives you setbacks and the mindset you have to push through makes all the difference.
I enjoy being part of a team along with the technical side of the game. I have the ability to see the game well with a good soccer IQ and act on it with technical skills such as a good first touch. I’ve been able to utilize my skills and character on the field for my high school varsity team and ECNL club team. I look forward to the opportunity to carry this on in college.
I have enjoyed playing soccer from an early age and I look forward to playing in college and furthering my education.
