Personal Statement

My name is Ava Barton.  I am a junior at Parkersburg South High School.  I have played soccer since I was 4 years old.  I have been a varsity starter my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior (Co-Captain) years.  In 2020, my high school team went 19-1, and finished second in the AAA State Tournament.  I led the team in assists. In 2021(Jr year) I was selected to the ODP East Region team, and participated in the USYS ODP inter regional event in Orlando FL, representing the east region.  I was also named WV AAA 1st team all state Midfielder, 1st team all region and 1st team all conference.  

I also play for WV Futbol Club out of Charleston, WV.   My club team and coaching staff have  played a big part in helping me develop in to the player I am today.  We play mostly in WV, OH, VA, and IN.

I have learned through the demands of soccer that I possess a balance of toughness and finesse.  I am very proud of the mental and physical work I put in outside of my vigorous high school and club soccer schedule and feel it has been the key to my success and has set me apart from others.  Other strengths of mine are my pace, speed, physical conditioning, and my ability to possess the ball.  Being a dependable teammate is also very important to me.  I try to remain humble, set the pace, lead by example, and prepare myself.  

When I'm not practicing or playing soccer, I love to laugh with  my friends, enjoy riding ATVs and being outdoors and exercising.
