Personal Statement
I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old. At first I only played because it was something to do, but I quickly began to enjoy the sport. I have learned that I am a leader and very determined. My goal in high school is to graduate with a 4.0. My goals in college are to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, and play college soccer. I would love to go to a school that has a great soccer and academic program, a good location, has flexible scheduling options, and offers internships.
I have had to overcome many obstacles to get to where I am today. I was always on the silver team when I was younger, but would guest play with the gold team at big tournaments. When I was 12 I finally made the gold team, and from then on I’ve always started for the gold team in every age group. When I moved up to a U14, I never played my actual age group ever again, I’ve always played up to ages 2 years older than me and sometimes 3 because of the older players. I had to work hard to get to where I am today. I started playing goalie about a year and a half ago. Before that I was a forward, center midfielder, and left defender. As a freshman, I had to go up against the returning varsity goalie and work harder than ever to beat her. My hard work paid off, and in the middle of the season the head coach decided that I was going to be the starting goalie for varsity. This year, I was starting varsity goalie throughout the entire season.
As a goalie, I am very aggressive off my line. My very best quality as a goalie is being able to use my feet. Since I was a field player not to long ago, my skills with my feet are exceptional. My teammates are very comfortable passing back to me whenever they are under pressure.
