I joined swimming when I was young, and it has taught me lessons that apply to other areas of my life. For the past eight years I have practiced two hours a day. Working hard at practice, goal setting, and being determined are the only ways to become a faster and better swimmer. I use the skills I have learned from swimming in my daily life. My current job is a coach for novice swimmers. I love helping the beginners, and taking what I learn into my improvement. I have learned to work hard and focus which has benefited my schoolwork. I know how to succeed because I have determination and work ethic. Goal setting also has contributed to my success as an athlete and student. When I document and remind myself of my current goals, I can focus on my plans and triumph. When I achieve a goal, it motivates me to set new goals and continue excelling.
Working hard is the most important thing to improve athletic performance. Pushing myself every practice is my main goal. I want to feel accomplished, and that is how I have been dropping time. After I work out, i try to eat the best food for my body to refuel and build muscle from the previous practice. Adequate sleep is something i always do, 8 hours each night. I put the above in priority for my athletic performance, because that is the way to improve. I value each of them greatly, along with healthy friendships, motivation in school work, and a balanced lifestyle between school, athletics, church, and free time.
