Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Kaleeen Stauffer! I have been swimming ever since the day my mom threw me the pool when I was about 2 years old. Most all of my vivid childhood memories involve being around a body of water. Although, it was not until I was about 7 years old that I developed a real passion for competitive swimming. My first experience of being a competitive swimmer was when I lived In Northern Maine and my parents decided to put me on the Canadian swim team that was near where I lived. This is where and when my love for swim was created. I instantly discovered that I had a natural talent for breaststroke, and it has been my stroke ever since. I've had many successes in this stroke. I won Providence while on my Canadian swim team, I have made it to high school state every year since I was a freshman, and I hold the school record in the 100 meter breaststroke. I also made it to state my first year joining a club swim team, SAQ, that is here in Arizona. These successes are what drive me in swim. I have an extreme need to win. With this constant need for winning, I have some athletic goals set. My first being bringing my 100 meter breaststroke time down to at least a 1:10.00 by the end of my high school season as a senior. I hope to improve upon that time during a college season and hope to get my time down to a close 1:03.00. I know these goals will take a lot of work and dedication, but I am ready for the challenge.
Before I can go any further, I must thank my parents for teaching me the value of hard work and integrity. Without these life lessons I would have never found my love for learning. Ever since I was young, I have always loved academic challenges. This is why throughout my academic career I have challenged myself with honors and advanced placement classes. I enjoy getting the most information out of every subject and that is why I choose to challenge myself with these advanced classes. Along with taking challenging classes, I tend to excel in them as well. So far throughout high school, I have worked to maintain a 4.0 GPA. This GPA has opened many opportunities for me in high school, such as being accepted into the National Honor Society. I also hope that my GPA of a 4.0 will help open more opportunities for me while I am selecting my future college. I also understand that even though having a 4.0 in high school is great, it does not end there. I hope to maintain high grades as I study either criminology or zoology in college . I also hope that my future grades will increase the overall GPA and passing rate of whichever college I attend.
Along with my swimming and academics I also enjoy doing many other things with my time. I enjoy being a part of the Walden Grove cheer team, in which I am the captain of. I also enjoy being apart of the dance program at my school. As of now I am in the advanced class and I hope to continue being apart of this as I go into my senior year. I also enjoy attending the history club at my school because I find it very intriguing to learn about the current events that occur in the world we live in today. I hope I will continue to be involved in my school as I am accepted to a college.
