Personal Statement
From the time I could walk, swimming has been a part of my life. From backyard pools, to summer swim meets, to starting year round swimming when I was seven, I have always loved the sport. From last place finishes to first place medals, I’ve experienced a lot. No matter how many times I dive off the blocks or swim a race, that amazing feeling of letting my hard work and preparation carry me through a race, that weightless feeling of knowing that you’re going faster than ever before, it never gets old.
One of the things I love the most about swimming is the team atmosphere it inspires. Many times, I have heard swimming described as an individual sport, and I think the truth couldn’t be farther from that. Your team supports you through the inevitable ebb and flow of the sport. They commiserate with you over a hard practice, cry with you over a bad race, and celebrate with you on the podium. The word team means much more than a group of people working towards the same goal. A team is a family who will always stick by you, and looking forwards to my college years, I can’t wait to expand my family!
