My name is Milan and I’ve been swimming since I was 3 ½. I started swimming competitively when I was five and until age nine I swam every summer on my summer league team, The Turtle Rock Highlands Tidal Wave. At age nine I continued to swim on the Tidal Wave team during the summer but expanded to swimming on my year-round club team, CMAC. CMAC stands for Costa Mesa Aquatics Club and has a wonderful community of swimmers as well as water polo players. I love to swim butterfly, in fact, butterfly is my favorite stroke. I think it’s so fun to swim the 50 and 100 butterfly. I also really enjoy swimming IMs and freestyle. I relish swimming the 200 IM as well as the 500 freestyle. Swimming anything above a 200 in freestyle comes fairly easily to me. I think it would be an amazing opportunity to swim on a college team and to perhaps even make it to the Olympics.
School for me is pretty fun, and I think it is so interesting to learn new things. I love to learn about Forensics, World History, and Literature. During eighth grade, I made it onto the Honor Roll for my work in Honors History and Honors English. Someday I hope to become a Crime Scene Analyst, Literature/History Professor, Author, or Forensic Scientist. However, beyond my ideal jobs, I love Marine Biology and would really enjoy working on Catalina Island as a Marine Biologist or Botanist. With whatever path I choose to take, I hope that I can earn my Ph.D. at a school of my choosing, such as Stanford (my dream school), the University of Hawai'i, or the University of Maine.
When I’m not swimming or studying, I take joy in playing in the snow, baking, reading, and playing music. My family has had many bakers and stories of bakers going back all the way to my great great grandmother. Many of the recipes used back then were taught to us in the present age. I love to sing, I have been in chorus since sixth grade and it was some of the most enjoyable times for me. My grandfather taught me to play the piano and now I can play it very well, sometimes my dog even joins in by singing, or biting my fingers while I play. When I read, I have a very active imagination and can picture almost anything, this is why I really enjoy writing. All in all, I have a lot of interests and I love all the adventures I’ve had from swimming to playing games and having fun.
