Coming from a family of swimmers, swimming in college has always been one of my goals. Swimming has helped me in many ways throughout my carrer. I find that it alleviates stress and also helps me in order to focus more on my academic and everyday life. I demonstrate good character values, good work ethic, and a good attitude. I believe that integrity is the most important key to living a fulfilling life. I think it’s essential to constantly demonstrate integrity in every aspect of my social, athletic, and academic life. It’s often hard to do the right thing in situations when others are not; it can be difficult to go against what the majority of people are doing. However, I have learned that it’s better to do the right thing alone than to go along with everyone else and regret it later. As a swimmer, my integrity is repeatedly tested every time I get into the water. There are times when I swim alone while others give up, but I realize it is ok to not follow everyone else. As long I keep my own integrity in check, I’ll be more satisfied and more capable of reaching any goal I set. Having integrity is very important to me, and I consider it a key value of my character. It is the reason I continue to work hard instead of giving up, and I believe it is one of the biggest things I can attribute many of my successes to this far.
