August 2013 Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Tess Malik and I have been swimming for 8 years now, but up until sophomore year I was a dual-sport athlete. I played club and high school soccer along with club and high school swimming. I moved from a YMCA team in Dayton, Ohio to a USA team in Fort Myers, Florida the summer before my sophomore year. Once I moved I decided to commit all my time to swimming. I made it to districts and then regionals this past high school season. I was only about 4 seconds from making state in the 500 free. I hope to make state this year, my junior year, and next year in the 500 free and the 100 fly. It is my dream to swim in college and get some money from a scholarship. I want to go to college to major in either biology or chemistry in order to be a doctor and swimming while I study would make my time at college 10x better!
