Personal Statement

I was introduced to swimming when I moved to Florida from Michigan and swam for a neighborhood team in the summer of 2014  From the first time I raced my first event, I immediately appreciated the love of the sport and learned the amount of dedication it was going to take to achieve my goals. Once I joined a competitive swim program two years lateobserving the talent on the team and celebrating the accomplishments of other swimmers, I knew I had to overcome joining the sport much later than most of my peers to accomplish the first milestones I sought to achieve.

My individual goals, dedication to the sport, coaches, teammates , intense practices and competitive nature push me daily to train harder, focus and strive to achieve my next level.  I appreciate feedback of what I need to work on to improve my times and look for opportunities to participate in camps or additional practices to work on techniques and build my endurance.  My favorite event is the 100 breast!  The intensity of the race, team support and getting to the wall faster is what I focus on every time I swim.  I take each practice and meet seriously and know I am there not only to achieve my personal goals but to support my team to achieve theirs.  I enjoy volunteering, coaching our local summer leagues to help young swimmers starting out as a way to give back to my community and develop myself further in the sport.

Academically I’m just dedicated and driven and my goal is to major in Health and Medical Studies. Currently I’m in the AICE program and working towards earning my High School diploma while earning credits towards college.   My preference is to live on campus, swim in college and fully invest in my future with the passion I enjoy the most - swimming.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and getting a sneak peek at what drives me each day.    I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to seeing what my future holds!
