Personal Statement

I've been swimming competitively for 8 years, but beginning my Freshman year in high school I decided to get serious and have been steadily building my strength and skills over the past two years.  Achieving YMCA National qualifying times for both long and short course in 100 and 200 Breaststroke events demonstrates my success thus far.  I love a challenge and am striving to make additional cuts (in freestyle and IM) for both HS States and the 2019 Y-Nat meet.  My goal over the next year is to make it to the A-Finals for my breaststroke for the 2019 Y-Nats Long Course meet.  I'm committed to keeping up my GPA, training hard, and working with my coach continually improve my strength and speed in every stroke.  I was elected Junior Captain for the 2018-2019 school year and re-elected as Senior Captain for the 2019-2020 school year.  As captain, I enjoy working with my coach and co-captains to build camaraderie, mentor new swimmers, and build a cohesive and winning team.  I've grown very close to my team over the years and the support and encouragement we give and receive from each other has proven invaluable both in and out of the water.  I am looking for a college swim program that will challenge me, but will also offer me the 'family' feeling and experience that I love.
