Hi, I’m Sophia (Averi) Schmutzler. I’ve been swimming competitively since I was 9 years old, and began to take it seriously when I was 12. Something that makes me different from most other recruits is my positive attitude. Waking up at 4:15 for morning practice, going to 7 hours of school and then going straight to my second practice of the day has developed me into an independent person. Swimming has also helped my academic abilities, as it has provided me with the self discipline to get my work done on time and maintain straight A’s throughout my high school career.
