Personal Statement
The summer I was 4 1/2 years old, my swimming career began at our local YMCA. I found a natural feel for the water and a coach ability that allowed me to improve quickly. I began to attend higher levels of competition, I learned the importance of the day to day training and the dedication required for competing. After a summer of performing well at LC champs and zones, I sustained an injury the fall of my freshman year. My time in the pool was limited that year due to my injury and then Covid. My training turned to dryland activities, and I worked hard at staying positive as I missed swimming a great deal. It was during this absence in the pool that I knew swimming is a huge part of who I am and is as important to me as academics. My commitment to swimming was reinforced the following year as I focused on training and rebuilding endurance. Going into my junior year, I made the move from a rural town in Missouri to Atlanta, GA and have joined a USA club team to improve my training. I understand the grind of swimming and am committed to what it takes to persevere.
Academically I am a strong student and just like in swimming, I focus and work hard in school. My favorite subject is math and I am looking for a school with a strong business program.
Besides focusing on academics and swimming, I have played club/school volleyball since I was 10 years old. In high school I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I feel these outside school activities have helped me become organized and given me excellent time management skills, so I will be successful participating in a collegiate sport.
I look forward to being a part of a team, the close friendships that develop during the hours of practice, and the camaraderie of a new swim family.
