Personal Statement
Hi!! College swimming has been a dream since age 6, when I first began swimming on my club team (GCAT). I attained success at an early age, winning overall at the GA State Championship at ages 10 and 12, then won Southern Premier (Southeast U.S) overall as a 12 year old.
COVID had a major impact at my home pool, which caused me to walk away from club swimming in the middle of my freshman year. I continued to swim on my high school team, remaining consistent in the gym and running track my freshman and sophomore year. Taking a break from club swimming made me grow more fond of the sport and gave me time to discover who I was outside of the pool. This February, I competed at the GHSA State Championship with Saint Vincent's Academy, helping our team win 2nd overall and return with two first place relay teams. I was the high point earner for SVA, winning an individual 3rd in the 50 free and posting 3 new PR's, despite my break from club. Rejoining my club team this year made me wonder how much more I could improve, and how I have not reached my limit of potential in the pool.
I am a natural hard worker athletically, academically, and I dedicate 100% when I set my mind to a goal. I am a member of the National Honors Society with exceptional grades, honor roll and numerous AP classes; I have held a 4.0 GPA or higher throughout high school and remain active in my community with 410 recorded service hours. I love understanding, talking and connecting with those around me, communication is one of my strengths.
I made the decision to swim in college because I desire to push myself further than what I think is my limit. Challenges are part of the fun to me, the reward itself is having the opportunity to expand possibilities.
