Swimming with the same team for over seven years has taught me that you never know your limits until you push yourself. After a serious leg injury during my freshman year, coming back to swimming competitively was more than a challenge. While out of the pool for the first time in years, I realized just how much I missed and enjoy swimming. The meets, teammates, competitors, coaches, lessons and nervousness it gives you-every part of swimming and the environment of the pool makes me smile. As a teammate, I am one of the most supportive and encouraging people you'll ever meet. When it comes to handling pressure, I know what to do in order to assure my team a victory in and out of the pool. There are some athletes that cut the corners. However, I believe the only way to truly succeed at anything is by making sure that you've given all of your heart and poured every last bit of power you have into a goal. This relentless attitude of mine is exemplified in many parts of my life. While in middle school, I set a goal to be in the top five percent of my class. Through hours of studying sessions and practice in school, I earned the number four academic ranking in my graduating class of five-hundred. I am a strong leader and will be an excellent addition to any team. This sport means the absolute world to me, and I could not imagine where I would be without swimming and the lessons it has taught me. I hope to put my abilities, attitude and work ethic to work for a successful college team.
