My name is Samantha Vogt and I will be in the graduating class of May 2019 . By then, I will have been swimming competitively for 9 years. I first got into swimming when I was recovering from a gymnastics injury. From then on, my life was has revolved around my swimming career. I know that everything I do matters and I am prepared to make the necessary sacrifices required to achieve my goals. I am a very positive and committed student/athlete and I want to swim in college and beyond.
Making the varsity swim team and participating in the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays at IHSA state as a freshman, really motivated me to give it my all, at all times. I am fortunate to not only be on a great high school team but also Glenbrook Aquatics Swim Club during the winter, spring and summer. All of my coaches who I have had in the past and those who are my present coaches have all acknowledged that I bring a high level of energy, positivity and are impressed with how easily I process critique and adopt new techniques. I have not only grown as a better swimmer on these teams but as well as a person.
I am looking for a school that fits me both from an academic and swimming perspective. Academically, I want to pursue a school that has a good reputation for my major. The school size or the location is not as important to me as long as I am able to accomplish my goals. Swimming wise, I want to find a program where the coaches will challenge me, help me refine my stroke and technique and ultimately help build me into a better overall swimmer both mentally and physically. I want to be part of a swim program that has a high level of positive energy and strong competitive team spirit. I also would like to commit somewhere where I can contribute to the teams' success. I am a team player and I am always there to cheer on my teammates and to support them both in and out of the water. I am looking forward to continuing to work hard over the next couple of years and to see how far my hard work can take me in this sport.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
