Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Ally Sperring. I am 16 years old and I swim for Fishers High School. I am very passionate about swimming! I started swimming when I was 8 years old and I really enjoy the sport. As the years went on, I have practiced harder and harder everyday, so I can become the best swimmer that I know I can be. I love the competition! Getting up on the blocks is the most exciting part, because I know that I can race everyone in my heat. I hate to lose! I would love to finish high school swimming and go to college. I would absolutely love to swim in college, wherever that may be!

I am a very hard worker, and I will always strive to do my best in anything that I do. I will never back down from the challenge. I love the close races. This is where our work really pays off. I realize that we are all hurting at the end of a race. I have to push forward and get my hand to the wall first. This is where the hard work really pays off.

I am different from other recruits because I am always encouraging. Even when I may not be doing the best in a set that we are swimming, I will still encourage others around me to do better. When my teammates do better, I do better. I can bounce back from the setbacks that I have endured. I always have to know that even though I may not have a best time in the beginning of the season, I know that I will accomplish great things at the end of the season, without being discouraged. I am a very positive person in and out of the water. There are times where I really do not want to wake up for those early morning practices, but I have to realize that this is what makes me better. I am also very hardworking in school. If I don't get a topic in school, I will practice it over and over again until I do. This transfers over to swimming as well. I have to go to practice every day, so I can be the best I can be when it come to championship season.
