Personal Statement
Just keep swimming. This really stuck with me as I knew a great outcome wouldn't come without hard work. Ever since the age of 3, I have been fascinated by water. Constantly jumping into any pool, at any given opportunity. Swimming has brought so many blessings into my life, like life-long friends, a strong mindset, discipline, time management, and dedication. Ever since I was a little girl, my mom, coaches, and friends always pushed me to my limits and saw the most potential in me. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. I owe all my successes to my mother, who has sacrificed a lot to help me pursue my dreams. I want to swim at a collegiate level to continue my love for the sport and the many benefits that come along. I also want to pursue swimming while maintaining a high standard of education.
Not only is swimming important to me, but my academics are a great deal too. I have and will continue to work hard to maintain my 4.17 GPA, as well as excel in my classes. Considering I am taking AP and honors classes, I think that aspect will help in adapting to college. I also want to create new relationships and bonds with my teammates. Having a positive environment and great team spirit is what I can give to a team, as well as a great athletic advantage. I have had to overcome many obstacles and sacrifice many aspects of my life to be able to focus on swimming. However, it's all worth it because hard work pays off.
I also want to swim at a collegiate level to experience the lifestyle of living internationally, since I'm from Cairo. Being in a different atmosphere will allow me to have more opportunities as well as confront change. Change is not often something people like, but I believe it challenges you while making you grow as a person.
