I love swimming and I've been swimming since I was four years old. One of my life goals has always been to swim competitively in college. At the college level, I aspire to not only be on the travel and conference championship team but also to place top 3 or be a champion and go to NCAAs.
I am one of the few distance swimmers who actually enjoys a long practice and I'm also into the IM, primarily the 400 IM. I feel I am a great candidate for a college team because I am an optimist and a good leader who is organized and easy to talk to about issues. I am unique from other recruits because even when practices and school might be tough, I don't bring an attitude into practice and I don't let that get in the way of my goals. I am also unique in that I've been to Sectionals several times in many different and diverse events. I've won the mile at state three times (two short course, once long course) and gotten third in the 400 IM. I am a 4.0 student with a full swimming schedule and I will be enjoying Iowa BIG my junior year (next year) which allows me to take engineering classes in a non traditional school setting. This will make me stand out from other recruits because in Iowa BIG we connect with the community and make our ideas heard by city leaders and other powerful people. This, in turn, will help me become a stronger and more active person in college, and as importantly, my college swim team.
