Personal Statement
My name is Annabelle Haberkorn. I've been swimming since I was 5 years old. When I first joined my hometown’s Swim Club I didn't even know what a swim stroke was, but I was having fun. After that first meet I knew this was the sport for me. Swimming has taught me some of the most important lessons in life, like how to manage time, learning to never give up, and how to become a great teammate and leader as well as being able to set and achieve goals.
Setting goals for myself has helped me tremendously in and out of the pool. I work extremely hard for my GPA and I am a varsity dual sport athlete. I have had great success in both swim and field hockey, earning All-State honors in both sports this past fall season. I would be a great addition to your swim program because I know how hard you have to work to achieve your goals. I also understand that swimming just like in life, every single day is an opportunity to make yourself better. Setting goals, making plans, putting in the hard work, and doing whatever it takes is the only way to achieve your goals. The things that I am looking for in a University are the right balance of a strong science program and competitive athletics, but most importantly is a great team culture. I am excited to swim for a strong program that supports each other and doesn't like to lose! Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me.
