Summer Schmit '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Summer Schmit. I am a student-athlete from Stillwater, MN. I have been swimming competitively for the past six years with St. Croix Swim Club. 

I am a para swimmer and have been involved with US Paralympic Swimming for the past five years. My future goals in swimming include making the 2021 Tokyo Swim Team. Swimming with a disability has challenged me to push myself harder than I thought possible and inspired me to keep up with my able-bodied teammates, especially my twin sister. While at times it has been challenging, it has also taught me perseverance. 

Swimming has taught me to how to dream, plan, and achieve my goals. It has taught me dedication and patience and has shown me my ability to push past the limit of what I though was possible. I am looking to continue swimming at a college that can support me as a student, athlete, and para swimmer.

My goals in college include keeping a balance between school and swimming. I am looking for a school that has an emphasis on hard work and dedication and challenges me athletically and academically, while allowing me the opportunity to grow as a person. I am looking for a college with a close-knit team environment, challenging academics, and an inclusive swim team.
