My name is Ava McDonough and I have been swimming competitively for the past 10 years. I am looking for a college swim program where I can be a strong contributor and one that promotes the academic success of its athletes. My plan is to major in sociology and go on to law school.
When I am not in the pool, and if my school work is done, you will find me rowing, running or biking. I am the third of four kids in my family so I feel like I have been a part of a "team" since I was born. If my coaches were to describe me I am confident that they would say I am hardworking, dedicated, determined and competitive. I think they would also describe me as just a tiny bit quirky and a good personality to have around on the pool deck.
Throughout my junior year, 2019-2020, I will continue to push myself in the classroom and in the pool. In short, I will achieve a weighted GPA above a 4.0, be inducted into the National Honor Society and be selected for Varsity Scholar. My goals are to swim 100 Breast SCY in under a 1:06, continue dropping time in my 200IM, 200 Back, 100 Back, 200 Breast and continue to have diversity in the in the events I swim so that can contribute wherever my college team needs me.
