Thalia Marquez '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Thalia Marquez, and I am from the little town, Watkins Glen, in Upstate NY. I am a high school student athlete maintaining a 3.8- 4.0 GPA and continuing to show improvements with my races.  I started swimming in fourth grade and my goal was to be on the varsity team for high school my 7th grade year. I pushed through many obstacles, trying to get to the level all my peers were at. I achieved my goal and thrived on the team.   I love to push myself to the limits. I won 4 section titles my 8th grade year, freshman year, and sophomore year-being .5 off of a state cut. Now, I am currently a junior at the beginning of my season. 

Swimming has taught me so much over my career thus far, and I can’t wait to keep growing in and outside of the pool. I love to stay positive, encourage others, and have fun. I try my best to enjoy every step it takes to reach my goals, and every "loss" is a chance to grow and continue to move forward. Everything in swimming doesn’t come easy to me, but when I fail, I try my best to fail forward.  I am looking for a school that will challenge me academically and athletically. Having a good relationship with my coach is also very important to me!  I can't wait to see what my future has in store! Don't hesitate to reach out if there are any questions.
