Hi!
My name is Madison Murphy (My teammates call me Maddie). I live in Boardman, Ohio and I attend Boardman High School. I am heading into my Senior year and I LOVE to swim!! I have been swimming competitively since the age of five, and completely fell in love with the sport. Now I never want to leave the pool deck! I also play golf and was voted All American Conference (AAC) Golfer of the Year as a Freshman & Junior. I took a two day "break" and went straight into swim season where I was voted AAC Swimmer of the Year (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023) . At our conference meet, I hold 6 conference records.
If someone were to ask me why I choose the sport of swimming, I would tell them its because I love water! When I was a baby, my dad took me to 'Mommy and Me' swim classes at the YMCA and he was the only dad there. We vacationed in St. Pete, Florida where my parents bought me pink floaties. I put them on and swam in the pool all day long. At the age of five, I joined my first summer swim team at the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club. I loved it so much, my parents enrolled me in Penguins Swimming at Youngstown State University so I could swim all year long. My family vacations yearly to Cape May, New Jersey where I bodysurf, jetski, fish, and kayak. I also love waterparks and my dad and I have gone to one every summer since I can remember. This overall just made me love the sport of swimming and the feeling of being in the water even more. The water is my happy place and forever will be!!
Playing two sports, I have developed a routine and with that routine comes organization and time management! To quote my pediatrician, "You need strong academics and strong athletics". I try everyday to find a balance by making a to-do list of the things I want to accomplish. I also try to have a routine for when I come home from school. I like to sit down in my study room and do my homework. Then I like to eat and get ready to go to practice. This helps me to stay organized with school and it gives me a good feeling that everything I wanted to accomplish is done before I head to practice!!
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me!
