My name is Gwen Kutchel, and I'm a junior at Strongsville High School. I began swimming at age 6 in my neighborhood's summer swim league and quickly developed a passion for the sport. This led me to join Swim United, a local club team, in first grade, a commitment I've maintained ever since. Being part of such a supportive team has profoundly impacted my love for swimming and my life beyond the pool.
In high school, I've secured three varsity letters and made it to the OHSAA District in the 200 IM, 500 Free, and 100 Breaststroke three times. Academically, I've excelled, earning the academic athletic excellence award during my freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and I've been named an All-Strongsville Academic Athlete three times. Additionally, I've received the All-Greater Conference Honorable Mention three times, recognizing my performance in swimming. My passion for the sport also leads me to coach, where I help guide my summer league team and assist with the club team.
As a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.57 GPA, I was the first junior to receive the Strongsville Kawieki Leadership Award for my achievements in swimming, community service, leadership, and academics. Selected by my teachers, I also participated in the High School mentoring program as a freshman. Outside of swimming and academics, I've pursued my passion for baking by starting Gwen’s Goodies at 12, a business that's grown to cater to various special occasions. I love contributing to people's special occasions, from bridal showers to weddings. Looking ahead, I'm eager to continue my swimming career and academic pursuits in college.
