Maddy Kelly '15 Recruiting Profile

I have smelled like chlorine since I was five years old.  I have a file box full of my ribbons and medals organized by event. I still carry Aqua, the Build a Bear I got after my first meet when I was six, to all my club meets.  We have a special shelf for "swimming towels" in our linen closet.

I love everything about being a swimmer.  I joined our local swim club at the age of five and swam year round until the end of my sixth grade year.  At that time I took a break from swimming and tried volleyball.  I thoroughly enjoy playing volleyball and have been quite successful in the sport.  However, I have a heart and passion for swimming.  I feel comfortable, encouraged, motivated, and excited when I swim.  I enjoy being part of a team and training together to reach our individual and collective goals.

My specialty is sprinting. During my recent high school season I  became a two time  5A State Champion in the 50 yard free (24.01)  I was runner up in the 100 yard free (53.02). I feel like I have a great deal of potential because there are many aspects of training I have not yet added.  I want to swim in college at a highly competitive level and I understand the hard work and dedication that requires.
