Hi my name is Faye Melekos.
I aspire to be the best student, athlete and person I can be. My academic strengths include: science, math, social studies, and art. I'm not sure where these strengths will take me but I am confident that whatever field I choose, I will be focused and reach my goals.
I am 5ft 6in 135 lbs and when I am not doing homework, sleeping or eating, I'm swimming. My best events are 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 back, 200 back, 50 free, and 400 IM.
This year my goals were to win the 100 fly at Suburban One League Conference Championships, break the high school record for the 100 butterfly, and make it to districts. I'm proud to say I met all these goals.
At the Suburban One League Conference Championship I broke my high schools pool record with a time of 59.08 in the 100-yard butterfly. It was such an amazing feeling to have my name placed on the high school board. Winning the Suburban One League Conference Championships in 100 fly was also an incredible feeling. Making it to districts for the 100 fly and 100 back, making it to 2nd team as a freshman in the 100 butterfly, being freshman MVP and making it to 1st team as a sophomore, are accomplishments that portray the type of swimmer I am and also show the trend of my future accomplishments.
Not only do I love swimming, I love swimming. It is more than just a sport to me. It's been such an integral part of my life since I was a little girl. My swim club friends and high school team have become a family to me. I love being a part of a team and being a team player. Waking up at 4:50 in the morning to practice is normal, swimming for 3 hours a night and having hours of homework ahead is normal, and always smelling like chlorine is normal. Swimming helps me stay balanced and focused. Next year some of my goals are to make it to states for the 100 butterfly. I will also strive to break more high school records. I love the competitive side of the sport and will work my hardest to do well for my current team and the team I join in college.
