For as long as I can remember, swimming has always been a passion of mine. I began swimming when I was 7 years old and quickly became known for my dedication and determination in the sport. I enjoy the challenge that comes along with swimming. I thrive in practicing my skills and pushing myself towards excellence every single day.
The pandemic years put a freeze on the ability to swim. Practices were limited and sometimes it was months before I could get into the water. Even though practice and water time were limited, you would always see me at the pool taking advantage of every minute I could get in the water. Not only did I work hard to stay in shape with limited time at the pool, I worked with my team to further my physical strength outside the pool at home via Zoom workouts.
I am fortunate to be a part of an amazing team. The Nazareth Area High School Swim Team has awarded me wonderful coaching, hard-working teammates, and a family-like environment with high levels of support. Being part of a team means that I am going to share common goals with other teammates. We all want the same thing in the end, but someone can’t just walk onto this team and succeed. It takes hard work to earn the coaches’ respect, but the outcome is more than rewarding!
I am now moving onto my sophomore year of high school. I am beyond excited for what challenges I am going to face this season and the next two. I am a person who sets the bar very high for herself, not only with swimming but with my academics as well. I always strive to be the best that I can be and, with each race I strive to develop and improve. Failures are only there to help support your future successes. One of my main aspirations this swim season is to medal at Districts individually and make it to states with one of our relays.
My academics are always going to be the most essential part of my life, but swimming is right there, too. While I have grown so much, I know there is so much more out there for me to learn to better myself, and I look forward to furthering my swim career in college! Whether it's in the classroom or at practice seeking more out of a set, swimming has taught me to push myself and work hard in everything I do. My sophomore year is going to be rewarding and the Nazareth Area High School Team is going to have a phenomenal year. I can’t wait to see where this takes me!
