Personal Statement
Swimming is my first love and forever will be. After training for over a decade I still look forward to swimming every day with my team. I have been fortunate to have wonderful coaches, hilarious and supportive teammates, and a new pool to train in.
Injury broke my heart my freshman year when I suffered a concussion and had to take time off for rest and recovery. I followed doctors orders to the letter and was still able to attend The State Championship with my relay team! Let’s face it, every athlete who was benched over the covid pandemic was heartbroken so my Sophomore year was the most challenging year of my life. That is a heartbreak I shared with the world. Being penalized for transferring my Junior year and not being allowed to swim at States, alongside my teammates was another heartbreak in my swim career but gladly, it is behind me now.
Today, I am team captain and am ready to take on this 2022-23 season alongside my team. Personally I am focusing on dropping my 100 Breast time. One week in and I have already qualified for our WPIAL championship! My relay team is a group of friends I have known since childhood. I love them dearly and know, together we have a great chance of competing against the best teams at The State Championship.
As I look forward to college, I thought I knew what I wanted in a college team but as it turns out, I am still deciding where and I how I will best fit in. My academics have helped me get accepted into some wonderful programs and I am still contemplating where and how my love of swimming fits into my college career. As for the moment, my team and I are about to have an explosive season so please watch!
