Personal Statement
Hi Coach.
My name is Sophia Guyer. I am fifteen years old and I am a Sophomore at York Suburban High School, a National Blue Ribbon School in York, PA. I am 5’6” and roughly 140lbs and I have been swimming for almost 10 years. My love for the sport has never been greater and I am constantly setting new goals to achieve. This year, I had my eyes set on 2:10 in the 200 IM and breaking our school record in the 100 Backstroke, which I achieved with a time of 58.50. I plan to train long course this summer and already have my eyes set on my next set of aggressive goals. I also feel that I have 4 complete strokes, strong starts/turns and that I am a very versatile swimmer which helps my team at times fill holes in a line up when we swim tough opponents.
One thing that I value about the sport is being apart of a team. I know that some swimmers may not value this as much as I, but I feel very lucky to be a part of a group of swimmers who all train very hard together and enjoy the collaboration and excitement of working towards the same team goals. In addition, I pride myself on being very coachable and learning more things about the sport and my swims at every practice. I find that my hard work ethic, drive for success and positive attitude not only help me to constantly be better, but also lift up the entire team atmosphere and I look forward to bringing this positive team-centric attitude with me to your team too!
Lastly, I am very active in my community and school. I gain significant enjoyment from helping others and supporting those around me. I look forward to meeting you and learning more about your program and school.
Thank you for your consideration to my profile,
Sophie Guyer
